Closer to Home Sunny Blackpool

Well it seems at long last people are making the effort to improve the look of this Blog,

by contributing to it with a range of different views,

sadly again it is McDonalds(they seem to be everywhere),

but this is in the typical Lancashire seaside resort of Blackpool,

where the famous illuminations are on at present, the tower has a glass platform at the top which those who are brave enough can stand on & look all the way down to the ground, I would have a go if only I was not so sensible

Latvia Fast Food

Well Hello folks,

Zorro has done it again, whilst recently in Latvia he kindly took these photos to show how quickly they are catching up with all the best of American & British culture, these are his comments

Just returned from Latvia. Cold but great fun!

This is your ordinary foto of Mc's.This one is the capital, Riga. On Aspazijuas Blvd. in the Old Town. I am told by my good friend , there is something wrong with this foto.The red car (Fiesta?VW?). What? It is not that it is on the zebra crossing

She tells me(remember I cant speak Latvian) in her fractured but sexy english that only rich people can afford to drive in the centre of the city. From what I can gather it is not a tax like London but that you need a expensive licence to drive in said city .centre. When I look at it now I see that the other car is a expensive Volvo - taxis, buses & trams are exempt.

Italian Fast Food

Well as nobody else is letting me have any new photos of fast food joints I have had to have a holiday to obtain at least one of my own.

By the way dont forget to read the full story in the blog of the holiday, well what about this as a novel style of Mcdonalds I nearly missed it & what a beautiful setting it is in

I was quite suprised at how busy it was & full of local young people & no they were not eating Pizza but big Macs & other similar local food

Have you guessed yet where it was well the other photo is of the amphitheatre in Verona, the location of the setting for Romeo & Juliet as you will see from the photo of the balcony, interestingly enough people forget that the book was written by Shakespeare and was fictional, so in reality the location never existed but has been done to promote the area & encorage tourists.
Legend has it that if people rub the left breast of Juliets statue it will bring happiness.

Hello all you readers Hamster has provided some more photos for the blog so I am going to use his words to describe what we are looking at.

This time in the middle east... Doha (Qatar)
If you have not tried a ""Hardee's" you have not lived... i can strongly recommend their thin sliced beef and mushroom bread roll... hmmmm... heaven

Doha, for anyone who has been there recently will realize it is no longer the pearl fishing place it was in the 60's and 70's, instead now it is the richest country in the world (per capita) and it shows, malls are popping up all over the place and rents for the ex pats who chose to work there are the highest I have ever seen, but to be fair the salaries make up for the rents.
In the second piccy, you will see the state mosque, just a couple of kilometers away from the Emirs palace, anyone who has visited the gulf state will recognise the mosque.

A Couple of English Fast Food Joints

Well folks this is a more traditional sort of fast food place, although I chose to eat in, mainly because it is hard to eat sticky toffee pudding when walking the streets. in particular when the sand is blowing all over the place.

I really can recommend this place for local fish & chips, if you read the other blog it will be easy to figure out the location but heres a photo to give you a clue.

I though to be fair I should not show bias so here is one of the better known fast food joints in the north east of England

This set of fast food joints is down to my good friend Hamster, the location is MD in Penang, this one is in Queens Bay Shopping Mall. I also attach a photo during Chinese New Year at Kek Lok See temple here on the island, the Temple will be known to anyone who has visited Penang the temple, and is a big tourist draw, but few get to see it adorned in the lights which only go on for special festivals.

Well readers this time you get 2 fast food outlets for the price of 1 what a shame that they have spoilt the appearance of a beautiful building but this is the price we pay when the stag & hen parties take over the world, what is worse is that they will move on but the damage will of already been done.

Have you any idea of where the location is, the next photo should tell you if you have visited before, it is the beautiful city of Prague and is a view of Charles bridge which is a famous landmark & a view across to the castle

Another Fast Food Joint

Well readers this is another joint I visited last year where the sea never comes in apart from when my son age 7 visited many years ago & guess what it was in that day.

If you look at the view you will see that from the promenade to the sea is overgrown with vegetation

For those that havent worked it out, it was Southport in Lancashire.

Well this is my first try at a new blog these photos are from a recent holiday I had to sunnier shores and show me at the local eatery.

How sad can you get when you go to a beautiful country and instead of eating the local fayre you find it easier to resort to Big Macs, sadly it was not the best or hottest I have ever had & the tables outside were all scratched, (please note Ronald McDonald) Can you guess the location of this beautiful town.
